Getting Started with Therapy
Reaching out can feel like a big step — even when you know you’re ready for support. This page is here to make that step feel clearer and easier.
Beginning therapy is a significant investment in yourself, both in time and cost, and this page is here to make those details clear. The details below are meant to make that investment clearer, including how to schedule, what you’ll pay, how insurance reimbursement may apply to your payments, and how we’ll use telehealth.

Nuts & Bolts
Booking a Free Initial Consultation
1
You can schedule online whenever you’re ready.
Once you book an Initial Consultation, you’ll receive a calendar invitation, followed by an email with more details about my practice. Out of respect for your time, we’ll make sure those work before we meet.
These appointments are typically available within two weeks. If you can’t find an appointment or have other questions, I invite you to contact me.
A range of appointment times are offered (early morning, daytime, and after work/school) to accommodate busy schedules.
As you get started as a client, you’ll set up a standing day and time for your session.
Practice hours for virtual therapy sessions: Tue–Thu from 7am–6pm

Connecting on Telehealth
3
All sessions are held online via secure video on Zoom, so you can participate from a private space that feels comfortable for you.
Virtual therapy provides an easy and accessible way to connect, which increases consistent participation. This approach maintains the same level of professionalism, support, and effectiveness as in-person sessions, without any traffic or parking!
I understand therapy is a substantial investment in yourself. It’s an investment of your time and your money. So here’s a transparent view on how it works — what you’ll pay, how you’ll pay, and how to find out whether your insurance will pay some or all of that back to you.

If you have a preferred provider organization (PPO) insurance plan, you likely have out-of-network benefits that reduce your out-of-pocket cost for therapy. You can check your benefits ahead of time to get a clearer sense of what to expect.
I use a secure payment processing platform (Thrizer) that accepts credit/debit cards (including HSA/FSA). You can submit your claims for out-of-network therapy, attaching a monthly statement I provide. Or you can choose to have Thrizer directly submit your insurance claims or even pay your copay for my sessions. Learn about Thrizer payment options here.
I am not contracted with an insurance company (except Pacific Source of Oregon commercial plans). By staying out-of-network, I protect my capacity to offer high-level, specialized care without a third party dictating the "how" or the "how long" of your healing journey.
